If you’ve never seen Sound and Fury, I strongly encourage you to watch it sometime. It’s only 80 minutes, and it’s very eye-opening (or maybe I just think so because I’m in college to become an interpreter for the Deaf). It might change your perspective (if you have one) regarding the Deaf community. Hope you get a chance to watch it someday! (It’s streaming on Netflix!)
Just made this using snippets of the Collin College home page with Microsoft Paint in my Computers and Technology class. I get the feeling that I won’t really be learning anything that I don’t already know in this class until the very end of the semester.
Registration for classes for the Spring 2012 semester starts tomorrow, so I’m looking at my degree audit to see where I’m at. Unless you’re some random person who found my Tumblr and started following me (because I’m just so undeniably interesting!), you know me in real life and are aware that my major is interpreting for the Deaf. Because my major isn’t something the majority of people in college are interested in (as opposed to nursing or computer science, etc.), it’s very difficult for me (and all of the other students in the Interpreter Training Program) to find classes that fill up enough to not get closed down by the no-classes-remain-active-if-there-are-not-thirteen-registered-students rule. I’ve taken two semesters thus far, on top of taking summer classes this past June and July. Up until this point, if ASL classes get shut down or just aren’t available, I have been filling up my schedule with basics (which I believe is what any person who isn’t an idiot would do) to get them out of the way. In conclusion, after this semester, I will only have three basics left to complete: computers and technology, humanities, and small business management/entrepreneurship. This is so exciting! However, it’s also terrifying because after I complete these three classes, I will only have ASL classes left to take, and if they get shut down, I won’t really have anything to fill my schedule up with. After this semester, I will have 10 more ASL classes to take. It’s kind of crazy thinking about things like this. I mean…13 more classes and I’ll have an AAS? It sounds like a lot considering I’ve only taken 10 classes and it’s taken me two semesters, but I’m nearly halfway there. And this means that I’m about 25% of my way towards my Bachelor’s. Woah!!!
Writing the third paper assigned this week in my sociology class. Wish my professor would have evenly dispersed the workload throughout the semester instead of throwing everything on us in the last three weeks of class. I’m exhausted.
